Category Manager

About the role

SBM Offshore is seeking a Category Manager to develop and execute category strategies that increase competitiveness and support business and product development across its deepwater ocean infrastructure portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary contact for suppliers and serve as the supply‑chain expert for the assigned category.
• Lead a team of Category Buyers and coordinate market analysis with internal stakeholders.
• Define and implement procurement strategies during tendering, execution, and operation phases.
• Support project and operations teams when supplier relationships are at risk, including dispute resolution and performance monitoring.
• Develop long‑term strategies based on total cost of ownership, pre‑agreements, approved vendor lists, local content, and spend analysis.
• Oversee supplier qualification plans and negotiate key contracts with accurate benchmarks and cost breakdowns.
• Capture lessons learned, report risks and opportunities, and manage vendor relationship strategies.
• Collaborate with Group Engineering and Technology to mitigate risks linked to innovation initiatives.
• Define category performance objectives, translate global strategy into specific KPIs, and monitor results.

Required profile

• Proven experience in category or procurement management within an industrial or offshore environment.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to conduct market and spend analyses.
• Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation capabilities.
• Leadership experience managing a team of buyers.
