Data Architecture Lead – Microsoft Fabric

About the role

The Data Architecture Lead will act as a Solution Architect for Microsoft Fabric, driving the migration from Azure Synapse to a next‑generation enterprise data platform. Reporting to the Data & Information Management function, the role will define and deliver the analytics platform on the Microsoft stack while ensuring alignment with overall IT strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Define and deliver the enterprise data and analytics platform on the Microsoft stack.
• Lead implementation and scale‑up of Microsoft Fabric as the next‑generation Enterprise Data Platform.
• Drive migration from Azure Synapse to Microsoft Fabric, shaping target architecture and implementation patterns.
• Ensure a smooth transition to a production‑grade, enterprise‑wide platform.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Architects, and the wider IT&S organisation to refine architecture, performance, governance and operating model.
• Engage directly with business stakeholders to deliver high‑value use cases on Microsoft Fabric.
• Provide technical leadership across internal teams and external vendors, ensuring architectural consistency and delivery quality.
• Guide delivery, challenge approaches where needed, and steer decisions toward long‑term outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a solution architect or data architect in enterprise analytics platforms.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft data services, especially Microsoft Fabric and Azure Synapse.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and business stakeholders.
• Experience guiding technical delivery and influencing architectural decisions.
• Proactive, solution‑oriented mindset with focus on long‑term value.
