Reference Products Assistant – Radiometrics Laboratory

About the role

The Reference Products Assistant provides technical support for proficiency tests, inter‑laboratory comparisons and the production of reference materials within the IAEA Radiometrics Laboratory. The role involves applying radiochemical methods, conducting radiometric measurements on marine samples and contributing to scientific publications.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in organizing and implementing proficiency tests (PTs) and inter‑laboratory comparisons (ILCs) ensuring accurate results and protocol compliance.
• Support the production of high‑quality reference materials for radionuclide analysis in marine samples.
• Perform sample preparation, radiochemical and radioanalytical analyses, including ancillary physico‑chemical tests.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment used for PT/ILC/RM activities.
• Contribute to the Quality Management System (QMS) by following documented standards and preparing technical reports.

Required profile

• Completed secondary education with at least five years of hands‑on experience in radiochemical and radioanalytical techniques applied to environmental samples.
• Experience in data processing, scientific reporting, and familiarity with quality management systems.
• Excellent oral and written English; knowledge of other IAEA official languages is an asset.
• Medical clearance for occupational exposure to radioactive materials.
