Technical Manager

About the role

SBM Offshore is seeking a Technical Manager to lead its technical department and support maintenance, reliability, inspection, integrity, change management, and marine and process stability programmes. The role ensures asset integrity, operational performance and drives technical excellence across offshore operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support and assurance to meet asset integrity and performance standards.
• Manage and optimise daily technical operations, ensuring safety, compliance and efficiency.
• Lead troubleshooting and deliver expert solutions to complex operational challenges.
• Develop and implement strategies for operational improvements, reducing downtime.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams for seamless execution of projects and maintenance activities.
• Ensure all technical activities comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Mentor and guide technical staff, fostering continuous learning.
• Identify and implement organisational optimisation opportunities.
• Lead integration of new technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency.
• Prepare and monitor the 3‑year AI budget in line with departmental and corporate plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
• Minimum 12 years of experience in the marine/offshore petrochemical industry, with solid knowledge of FPSO/FSO unit operations.
• At least 5 years of managerial experience overseeing technical teams.
