Internship – Ocean Acidification Coordination Centre

About the role

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is offering a six‑month internship within its Ocean Acidification International Coordination Centre (OA‑ICC) at the Radioecology Laboratory in Monaco. The intern will support the OA‑ICC team in organising events, updating resources and producing communication material while gaining hands‑on experience in marine environmental research and international coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and facilitating technical meetings, training courses and the annual work plan of the OA‑ICC.
• Update OA‑ICC news streams, databases and draft reports, newsletters, web stories and social‑media posts.
• Support the Secretariat of the Global Ocean Acidification Observing Network (GOA‑ON), attending weekly meetings and contributing to communication activities.
• Help organise quarterly GOA‑ON Executive Council meetings and regional hub events (e.g., Africa, Mediterranean).
• Contribute to the UN Ocean Decade programme OARS and prepare materials for the 6th Symposium on the Ocean in a High‑CO₂ World (October 2026, Wellington, NZ).

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a university programme related to marine science, environmental science, climate studies or a similar field.
• Strong interest in ocean acidification, climate change impacts and international scientific coordination.
• Excellent written communication skills in English.
