Senior Accountant – Maritime Operations

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to lead the accounting function for maritime operations within an international group based in Monaco. The role will ensure accurate financial reporting, robust controls and seamless interaction between finance, IT and operational teams.

Key responsibilities

• Execute monthly and quarterly financial controls, including accruals, reconciliations and analytical reviews, and prepare quarterly closing work‑files in line with group procedures.
• Collaborate on management reporting and the preparation of annual IFRS financial statements, providing documentation for external auditors.
• Act as liaison with IT and system providers to resolve accounting‑related issues, perform P&L consistency checks between ERP and operational systems, and maintain data integrity.
• Oversee bank reconciliations, cash and treasury controls, and approve payments.
• Supervise intercompany reconciliations, pool accounting and inventory/bunker quantity reconciliations, ensuring correct valuation and EU Allowance (EUA) inventory tracking.
• Manage vendor and customer ageing reviews, and verify insurance schedules for fleet completeness.
• Serve as a key contact between the maritime accounting team and other functions, offering guidance and escalation support to team members.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in operational accounting, preferably within maritime or pool accounting environments.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to handle high‑volume processes under tight deadlines, and excellent communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with ERP systems and ability to learn new platforms quickly.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of IFRS (a plus).
