Senior Agricultural Extension Expert

About the role

NTU International is seeking a Senior Agricultural Extension Expert to support the EU‑funded project that modernises Uzbekistan’s agri‑food advisory system. The role will guide policy‑level reforms, develop farmer outreach mechanisms and strengthen institutional capacities across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Support reform and modernisation of agricultural extension and advisory service systems.
• Provide technical assistance on farmer outreach, extension methodologies and knowledge dissemination.
• Develop extension strategies, operational frameworks and service‑delivery models.
• Advise public institutions on participatory, climate‑smart and farmer‑oriented advisory approaches.
• Integrate digital advisory tools, e‑extension platforms and innovative knowledge‑sharing methods.
• Prepare extension assessments, operational manuals, training materials and policy recommendations.
• Promote inclusion of women, youth and vulnerable rural populations.
• Coordinate with ministries, research institutes, extension agencies, farmer organisations and development partners.
• Deliver workshops, field trainings and capacity‑building activities.
• Contribute to monitoring, reporting and evaluation of extension reforms.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in agronomy, agricultural extension, rural development, agricultural sciences or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in agricultural extension, rural advisory services or farmer support systems.
• Proven experience in development projects in developing or transition economies.
• Experience with donor‑funded programmes and international development cooperation.
• At least 7 years focused on extension systems, advisory services or farmer capacity‑development programmes.
• Demonstrated expertise in extension methodologies, rural knowledge‑transfer systems and institutional reform.
• Experience related to climate‑smart agriculture.
