Senior Data Platform Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to own and evolve Mistral Capital’s data infrastructure. Reporting to the CTO, you will work closely with the technology team to ensure reliable, observable, and scalable pipelines that feed market, reference, and historical data into our investment and trading systems.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of the firm’s data pipelines and ETL infrastructure.
• Design and build robust pipelines for market data, reference data, historical time‑series and other critical datasets.
• Implement orchestration, monitoring, failure handling and dependency management across pipelines.
• Build validation and data‑quality controls for trading, analytics and risk systems.
• Define standards for schemas, metadata, testing, deployment and documentation.
• Maintain interfaces that make data reliably accessible to downstream systems and end‑users.
• Evaluate new technologies and make architectural recommendations.

Required profile

• Strong experience building and operating production data‑intensive systems.
• Excellent Python development skills.
• Expert‑level SQL knowledge, including data modelling and performance tuning.
• Experience with relational and non‑relational storage technologies.
• Proficiency in cloud environments (Microsoft Azure preferred; AWS/GCP also relevant).
• Solid software‑engineering fundamentals: testing, version control, CI/CD and maintainable design.
