Senior Distributed Systems Engineer (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Distributed Systems Engineer to design and build large‑scale data processing components. The role is fully remote and focuses on creating reliable, high‑performance stream and batch pipelines using Java or Scala.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement distributed system components in Java or Scala for large‑scale data processing infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain stream and batch processing systems that move data reliably at scale.
• Apply distributed‑systems principles to address fault tolerance, consistency, and throughput challenges.
• Diagnose and resolve JVM performance bottlenecks in production environments.
• Collaborate with data and platform engineering teams to deliver solutions that meet real‑world requirements.
• Participate in code reviews, define engineering standards, and engage in technical discussions.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in IT roles.
• 3+ years building distributed systems with Java or Scala as the primary language.
• Strong foundation in distributed data‑processing design and operation.
• Experience with stream or batch processing frameworks and large‑scale pipeline infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of JVM performance fundamentals.
• Open‑source contribution experience is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
