Senior Java Backend Developer – Remote

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer to design and build high‑throughput distributed data processing components. You will work remotely with a global team of top‑tier engineers, contributing to open‑source data platform technology used by leading enterprises.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop Java‑based distributed data processing components with emphasis on reliability and correctness.
• Build and maintain streaming and batch pipelines that handle large‑scale workloads in production.
• Apply deep JVM performance knowledge to optimise processing systems under real‑world conditions.
• Collaborate with platform and data‑engineering teams to deliver scalable, well‑tested solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and help define engineering standards for the data platform.
• Investigate and resolve performance bottlenecks and reliability issues.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in IT roles.
• 3+ years of professional experience using Java as the primary language.
• Hands‑on experience with distributed data processing systems, including streaming or batch infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of JVM performance fundamentals.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
• Open‑source contribution experience is a plus.
