Category Buyer

About the role

As a Category Buyer at SBM Offshore, you will drive the negotiation and contractualisation of long‑term agreements with strategic partners, supporting the company’s ambition to enhance competitiveness and secure supply across its offshore energy portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Category Manager or Senior Category Buyer in managing strategic suppliers.
• Monitor vendors' financial data, capacity, load levels and investment plans.
• Conduct market analysis to inform sourcing strategies.
• Ensure commercial agreements align with project and operational needs, delivering simplification, competitive pricing and manufacturing slot reservations.
• Incorporate lessons learned into vendor performance improvement initiatives.
• Deliver frame agreements according to the defined contracting plan.
• Assist in supplier negotiations using benchmark and cost‑breakdown models, integrating Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) considerations.
• Support project and operations teams when vendor relationships are at risk, handling disputes, claims and performance issues.
• Measure and report contracted savings and other supply‑chain KPIs.
• Issue purchase orders for key scopes on an ad‑hoc basis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in supply‑chain management, business administration or a related field.
• Previous procurement or supply‑chain experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Strong commercial acumen and analytical mindset.
• Proficiency in data analysis and market research.
• Effective communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Knowledge of the targeted product market and liaison with technical stakeholders.
• Understanding of Total Cost of Ownership methodology and cost‑breakdown models.
