Compliance Officer – Client Onboarding

About the role

Julius Baer is seeking a Compliance Officer specialized in client onboarding to ensure robust anti‑money‑laundering (AML) controls and risk mitigation across private banking activities. You will act as a subject‑matter expert, supporting senior stakeholders and collaborating with international teams.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce AML standards and assess unusual activities as a subject‑matter expert.
• Review and document client relationships, applying appropriate compliance actions and remediation measures.
• Conduct ad‑hoc investigations, enhanced due diligence, and employee‑related investigations in partnership with HR.
• Perform comprehensive background checks, evaluate source information, and escalate issues to reduce bank risk exposure.
• Collaborate with the three Lines of Defence, relationship managers, and front‑office risk teams.
• Provide training and develop materials on compliance topics.
• Lead fraud prevention and detection activities, including ownership of the internal Fraud Risk Type Framework.
• Independently review unusual transactions flagged by AML monitoring systems, verify economic background, and assess alignment with KYC profiles.
• Support private banking compliance by reviewing client onboarding, KYC, flow of funds, and conducting event‑triggered reviews.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Compliance, Finance, or a related field (BAC+5).
• Several years of experience in AML, compliance, or financial crime investigations within banking.
• Strong analytical abilities and experience working with senior stakeholders.
