Digital Twin Development Internship – Offshore Vessel DP Systems

About the role

Join SBM Offshore’s Installation Engineering department for a 6‑month internship in Monaco, focusing on digital twin development for offshore vessel dynamic positioning (DP) systems. You will work on advanced simulation models that support safe, efficient offshore installations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a dynamic numerical model of a vessel’s DP system, including vessel response, environmental loads, and control logic.
• Integrate the model into OrcaFlex and create custom automation features to improve engineering workflows.
• Design a user‑friendly interface for model configuration, execution, and result interpretation.
• Participate in verification and validation activities using engineering analyses and operational feedback.
• Prepare user guides, technical documentation, and training material; conduct demonstration sessions for future users.

Required profile

• Master’s‑level engineering student with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Interest in multidisciplinary engineering environments and offshore operations.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Familiarity with offshore simulation software, preferably OrcaFlex.
